I don't think pride equals being out in peoples' faces, it means doing something to better ourselves and humanity. We are always looking for ways to make Pride politically relevant, and I am thrilled this year about out Grand Marshal, Donna Rose, and acknowledging her work.
Unfortunately, our political rally is never a strongly attended portion of the festival. While we have tried to do educational components in the past, they have never done very well.
I think that Pride is a time for our community to get some well-earned R and R. As GLBT individuals we fight every minute of every day for our rights. Many enjoy this as a time to celebrate what we have done and the gains we've won throughout the year.
